A 60.16-pound Manhattan Cup record striper leads us off this week with a quick wrap-up of this legendary catch and release striper tournament out of Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City. Clearly, it's hard to believe that it's already June 13th and just one week out from the first official day of summer and the final day of spring sea bass. As jumbo bass begin to slide east (4:25) the first co...

Some interesting catches were included in the staples last week. Multiple black drums to over 40 pounds were caught on the South Shore this week, and several redfish to 30 pounds were also confirmed along the same side of the island. The consistent striper bite stayed true once again for those fishing both on the inside and outside. Fluking is seeing steady progression on both shores and even i...

Things are lining up perfectly for Father's Day fishing, whether you want to chase bluefin, stripers, sea bass, fluke or lake trout... there's a good bite to get in on. Monster stripers are invading Rhode Island waters, bluefin are making a strong push off Cape Cod and fluke catches are heating up fast along the South County Beaches. Now all we need is the weather to cooperate. Happy Father's D...

Brought a little bug home from Florida last week as a parting gift, and hoping to get to 100% in time for this Friday's Manhattan Cup out of Jersey City, NJ. Good time for this legendary catch and release striper tournament given the volume of jumbo stripers being reported in the NY/NJ Bight right now; finally, those schools of bunker have popped up along the Jersey Shore to provide bait option...

We saw the first bonito of the season this week, but don't start that albie countdown just yet, you'll be counting for a long time! The red hot striper fishing in western Long Island Sound held up for another week; as mackerel and menhaden continue to fuel the mayhem. The biggest catch of the week was a 200-pound halibut from the Gulf of Maine. This week, it feels like anything is possible! 00:...

I was super disappointed by this program! I thought it would have something, even just a little to do w/ surf rods & tournament casting rods.

Hello everyone I'd like to set the story straight I'm the guy that hit the picnic table there's only one fishing string before the picnic table. There was only one picnic table😢😢😢😢
Dude yapped half the video just to show you how quick it really is 😭😭
I want one for sturgeon fishing
Like to see the batteries moved into the console.
Seabass are not fussy and diamond jigs work great for them. I wish I could get more Williamson ika jigs. Seabass fought over it. It's discontinued, sadly.
Thanks for the comment on the bunker schools in CM. Yes, that was me that sent u the text. Tight lines and Happy Father's Day Jim.
One thing you don't hear discussed much, twin engine vs single engine with a kicker. With the kicker, you can have a separate FUEL SUPPLY. If something is wrong with your fuel--and it happens, then the twins are both down, but you kicker with a stand alone fuel tank is a good thing. Mind you, it won't take you all that far, but after you call for a tow, you can close the gap to the tow boat, and keep her head to the swell. With twins, yeah, you can drop an anchor and wait, but heading home with the aux engine and fresh gas is better, IMO.
Did the 3000 model ever get released?
"...easy peasy, fill the box, lemon squeeze." Love it.
Interesting retrieval technique......🤔
I thought Northern KIngfish were the same as Whiting. What's the difference?
I always thought whiting were ling
What WE refer to locally as WHITING are also known as SILVER HAKE. What we commonly call LING are also known as RED HAKE or SQUIRREL HAKE. This is the NORTHERN KINGFISH www.thefisherman.com/article/inshore-specie-profile-the-northern-kingfish/
Omega just came through yesterday out front of Sandy hook and took all the bunker 🤡. This needs to stop. I wonder how many 50” that huge net grabbed. Gonna destroy our fishery.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!🍻🎣
Don’t think I’ve ever seen so many big bass caught in a fisherman’s mag report. Wow
I thought Mike Dean only caught schoolies out of shinnecock, who woulda knew. 60 lbs! Lol
All jokes aside, congratulations Mike!
Those cows should have been released
Every over-slot striped bass shown in this week's report WAS released Walter. For the Manhattan Cup tournament, anglers get a quick length and girth measurement before release to determine a tournament weight (length X girth X girth / 800). Again, over-slot stripers were released. -JH
Rarely has there ever been a pre-spawn bass measuring 47” that is over 50lbs and never has there been one 60lbs. I wasn’t in said contest but it seems necessary to point out it’s actually impossible for that fish to be 60lbs 🤷🏼♂️
Personally, I don't think this fish dropped her eggs, but the length X girth X girth / 800 formula tabbed this fish in a catch and release tournament at 60.16 pounds. To the best of my knowledge, the fish wasn't hung on a scale for a weight. -JH
@@thefishermanmagazine I applaud the anglers for not hanging that fish from a scale- I think we can all agree there’s no need to harm the fish in that way. But using a calculation method (Wood’s equation) developed for tarpon seems like a poor way to determine an accurate weight on a striped bass in a contest. Again I have no skin in the game but having witnessed multiple 60lb fish landed on commercial vessels I have never seen one short of 52” and that one had two big (~18”) Tog in its stomach when it was gutted. Again I applaud the anglers for good handling practices and I hope I don’t come across as being rude with my statements, as my only hope is to create a productive dialogue on the subject.
@@Sir_Defyable in andys liquor store in penns grove nj there was a mount of a striper that was caught in the early 80s berfore the new regs, it was caught in the delaware river.that fish was 48inchs long and weighted 68.8lbs so dont ever say never, the girth on that fish was tremdous,it hung in that store fore 25 years or more.andy took it with him when he sold the place
@@thefishermanmagazinewe already had her out of the water for tape measurements and photos and a quick pic with myself and Kevin Overlander. There was a boga on board but we wanted to get her back in.
@@Mnhtn2mtk WELL DONE MIKE!
Is it me or the spring striper fishing from shore in the northeast ended quick and was weak?
It seems to have ended here in Wildwood south jersey. I only managed a couple of schoolies.
Bunker boats massacred the bunker this spring.
Love The Fisherman Dream Team piece! I hope we get to see more like it in the future! Love the new boat Mike!
congrats to mike deen and nice catch for joe deen charthers!
Ohhh I just farted
Happy Birthday bud
Hello..great video as I am switching over to circle hooks and a dingle dangle..can this knot be used to snell 49 strand wire??
I mostly rely on a 7 gallon air tank that I fill to 120 psi with my stationary home compressor to get my four tires from 16 psi to 30 psi and then use the Makita to bring all four tires from 30 to 34 psi - with two people working we can do all 4 tires in 10-12 minutes. The Makita is great and with a 5 amp battery will easily fill four tires 33" tires (285/65R18) from 16-34 psi.
Way to go Mike Dean 60 lbs ❤🐟👍

Phenomenal video. I’ve grown up my whole life using steel leader for bluefish. How often are you guys or anyone here using seaguar noticing them biting through it? I just bought some but I’m still hesitant

Can anyone recommend a good private charter service for 4-6 people anywhere between Brooklyn and western suffolk county?
Ive read the magazine for many years.its a good way to find out whats biting and where.milt rosco i believe his name is put lots of good advice into the mag and others do to. An all around good magazine except its mostly advertising.

You say you have a "really good tide" for striper fishing. Can you explain that?
The incoming tide in front of the lighthouse rips in Motauk has historically been the better one for striped Bass. -MB
Thanks for the report Dave!! Video quality looks great and see you are using a new DJI mic definite upgrade to the reports. Keep em tight....🎣
